Mother’s Day falls on May 10 this year, and if you’re still figuring out how to make it count, here’s an idea that goes well beyond brunch reservations. Luxe Cruises & Events is bringing back its annual Mother’s Day Cruise aboard the Cabernet Sauvignon Yacht — a 3-hour afternoon on San Francisco Bay with a full buffet lunch, free-flowing champagne, bottomless mimosas, and a DJ keeping things moving from dock to dock.

Whether you’re planning a family afternoon or spoiling the women in your life with something a little different, this is one of the few Mother’s Day events in the Bay Area where the scenery actually does the heavy lifting. The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the San Francisco skyline — it all rolls by while you eat, drink, and dance.

What’s included

Every ticket covers the full 3-hour cruise, a buffet lunch (menu below), complimentary champagne, and bottomless mimosas. There’s also a DJ on board, so expect dancing. A cash bar is available for cocktails, wine, or beer beyond the included drinks.

This cruise is open to the public with assigned seating, cruise-ship style. Tables seat up to 10, and you may be seated with other parties. If you’re coming as a group but bought tickets separately, email hello@luxecruises.com at least 48 hours before the cruise with the names of your reservation so the team can seat you together. Requests within 24 hours of sailing can’t be accommodated — seating gets locked in ahead of time.

Why a Bay cruise works for Mother’s Day

Most Mother’s Day plans involve a crowded restaurant with a prix fixe menu and a two-hour wait. A cruise sidesteps all of that. The food comes to you. The views change every few minutes. And you get three hours on the water instead of rushing through a meal so the next party can have your table.

It also works for groups that don’t always agree on what to do. Kids can run around. Adults can sit with a champagne and watch the skyline. Someone who wants to dance has a DJ. Someone who wants to stand on the deck and take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge can do that, too. There’s enough room and enough happening that nobody feels stuck.
